Today, textile to textile recycling is estimated to 1% for the textile industry. This industry is considered as the second most polluting industry.

The European commission has the objective to reduce the negative impact of our consumption in the European market, with the aim to increase the positive societal and economic impacts of the new products.

SCIRT project, funded by the European Commission, aims to reduce the damaging impacts of the industry. The project’s high technical goal is to create new collections with at least 50% of recycled material through mechanical recycling.

For transforming the used textiles into the recycled threads, more than 180 trials on spinning steps have been realized at the CETI facility. In this hour-long webinar, you will gain insight into the global scientific procedure and results of making fibre threads from recycled material, which have been useful for determining the best methods for industrial upscale.

This session will also address the SCIRT objective of developing the innovation for market uptake transfering the recycling process at industrial scale and implementing these new materials in new collection developed by several famous brands of the European Market: DECATHLON, PETIT BATEAU, BEL&BO, HNST, XANDRES. ALTEX and ESG will share their collaborative work in enabling CETI to transfer larger quantities of material.
